Goldington Academy Virtual Open Day

Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to Goldington Academy.

Education at Goldington Academy thrives in an atmosphere of encouragement and high expectation. We endeavour to achieve this through our belief that learning is a partnership in which teachers, pupils and parents all play significant roles. Our responsibility is to nurture, stimulate and guide the talents of today’s young people in preparation for tomorrow’s opportunities and demands.

Our last Ofsted Inspection report begins with the following statement:

“Goldington Academy is a very welcoming school where pupils achieve well.  Pupils, from the youngest to the eldest, and from varying backgrounds, work together with respect for one another and the staff.  Pupils feel a sense of belonging at Goldington Academy, and consequently, they are well placed to learn and achieve.”

I hope you enjoy your tour of the school and that it provides a sense of the opportunities, quality of learning and excellent facilities that your child can look forward to.

Small group tours are warmly welcomed. Tours can be arranged by contacting Ms Fearon.

Student Support

Goldington Academy is organised into year groups (Year 7 – Year 11).  Each group is led by a Head of Year who is responsible for the welfare of all the children in that age group.  The year groups are divided into classes under the care of form tutors who have immediate responsibility for the work and pastoral care of their classes. The form tutor’s role is central to the support and care of the children in the school.   Together with the Head of Year, he or she undertakes a special responsibility to guide the day to day work, welfare and behaviour of the children in their class and is the immediate person for parents to contact about their child.

Pastoral care is also provided in the Student Support Hub (SSH) where pupils are supported in small groups or on a one-to-one basis according to their needs.  The school also has a dedicated mental health lead who works closely with outside agencies such as CAMH and the school nurse to support students and staff with mental health.

Peer support is offered by a team of anti-bullying ambassadors, who have a responsibility to report bullying, and Year buddies to help younger pupils find their feet in the first few weeks of starting their new school.
